Tone is the feeling or attitude shown by a speaker or writer in communication. A tone can be friendly, angry, polite, sad, serious, etc.

For example,
• I am happy to help you – friendly tone
• This is totally inhumanity – angry tone
Register is the use of language according to the context. The level of formality changes depending on the situation, audience and purpose.

TYPES OF REGISTERS
a)Formal register: It is used in formal/official situations like speeches, letters, interviews, etc.
b)Informal register: It is used when communicating with friends or family members.
c) Neutral register: It is used in general communication. It is not too formal or too informal.

For example,
• I would like to ask for your financial assistance? – formal
• Can you help me something? – informal
• Could you help me, please? – neutral
• The class will begin shortly – neutral
