ROUTINE/HABIT
Routine is the planned order of activities which are done repeatedly for a long time.
Personal routines are the planned activities to one person about daily activities or personal matters.
Group routines are the arranged activities for a group of people usually in schools, offices and organizations.
A good example of routine is a school timetable.
Habits are involuntary activities we do repeatedly.
We do not plan to do them.
Good examples are: laughing, smiling, crying, sneezing, dozing, yawning, bed wetting, dreaming, abusing, vomiting, talking, noise making etc.
When talking about routine or habit we use the Present Simple Tense.
This tense is used to show what is done repeatedly.
The verbs are used in the base form i.e. go, come, sleep, sit, swim, write, jump, see, look, laugh etc.
Only the third person singular adds ‘s’ or ‘es’
